At Grand Genève International School, Academic Advising ensures that every student receives personalized guidance aligned with their academic goals and personal growth.

This process is a collaborative effort: on-site advisors, teachers, and faculty from academic partners work together to create a cohesive, student-centered learning plan. Each team member plays a vital role in guiding students and supporting their success.

Student Contact and Engagement

Advisors are the first point of contact for students and families, assisting with:

Academic planning and goal setting
Course selection, placement, and enrollment
Graduation requirements and progress tracking
Adding or dropping courses
Transfer credit approval

Academic Planning & Course Selection

Each year, students meet with their advisor to develop an individualized course schedule that balances academic rigor with personal interests. Advisors ensure students take appropriately challenging courses while meeting long-term goals and manage any schedule adjustments throughout the year.

Graduation & Transfer Credit

For full-time students, advisors monitor progress toward graduation requirements to ensure milestones are met. They also review and approve transfer credits, keeping academic plans on track.

Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Advisors collaborate with students to create Individualized Development Plans outlining:

Academic objectives
Strengths and areas for improvement
Recommended course progression
Extracurricular and leadership priorities

IDPs are reviewed regularly and updated to reflect students’ evolving goals and achievements.

Advising for Student with Specialized Needs

Guidance for students balancing demanding schedules, including high-performance athletes or others with intensive commitments
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring additional academic support
Support for social and personal growth, alongside rigorous academics
